Snowy Mountain Trading Post
Owner Larry Steuben
2003 Indian Spirit
We specialize in AJS, Matchless and Indian motorcycles.
The business resides on Central Avenue in Harlowton, MT, and has been in operation since 1987. Although it started as a taxidermy studio, second hand store and pawn shop (ie, 'trading post') with motorcycle restoration as a sideline, the motorcycle related portion of the business continued to expand while the other facets of the business became extinct. The main building covers some 4,348 square feet of floor space that includes two show rooms, a parts room, a tool room, a work shop and an indoor salvage yard capable of holding over 300 relics. In 1996 the business expanded by adding a six unit RV campground just across the alley North of the main building. In 1998 we established dealership statis under Domi Racer Distributors giving us access to their three million dollar inventory to better serve our customers. In 2000 the business expanded to include an eighteen unit motorcycle display and a worldwide parts salvage market through eBay. In 2006 the business purchased the old Schmeling Locker Plant with 7,844 square feet of floor space which is presently being remodeled to house both a motorcycle museum and complete motorcycle restoration facilities. In 2008 Rocky Mountain Promotions and Terri's Barefoot Country became our partners and the 1,296 square foot building known as Dick's Barber Shop located at 202 North Central was purchased to house our office and shipping facilities.
This year (2010) the "Ride The Wind Rally" will be held on June 18, 19 and 20. Each year we've seen the rally grow and hope to see that continue! We'll start things off with a Karaoke Contest by Terri's Barefoot Country on the 18th. A Fun Filled Day is planned on Saturday, June 19th which includes a Show & Shine of motorcycles, a motorcycle parade, a picnic and a Motorcycle Rodeo in the Chief Joeseph Park. Prizes will be awarded for all events! A motorcycle tour is being planned for Sunday, June 20 ( destination yet to be determined).
Plus, the "Montana Festival of the Wind" will offer Crafts, Kite Flying, Fishing, Golfing, Fun Run, Chili Contest, Windbag Contest and more...there is something for everyone! Come to Harlowton and bring the whole family.
